We considered our next course of action after returning to Esber and parted ways with Seeker. We however decided to go to Oldbridge to investigate rumors of strange murders. A maid, a coppersmith, and a wise woman disappeared all of a sudden, on the same sort of day. The interval was suspicious, so we equipped silver tools and began our prowl.
[Day passes]
Spoils from the previous day were meager. Dismas and his hench found a beggar named Sooty. Dirty and strange fellow. Claims he can talk to pidgeons and a crate. And a string under a certain moon. Strange fellow.
The crate was followed up on, and Dismas is virtually convinced it’s a mimic. Our running theory is that “Crate” attacked who it did out of needful hunger. The town embarked on a campaign to eradicate rats in the limits. We aren’t holding it ag--#$%^&. (distorted scribbling and spilled ink.)
It was not Crate. Based on what Sooty is telling us… oh. Crate is more intelligent than we first gave credit. Tried to “save” the maid that was carried away by a flying man in the alley. And… under the Bridge there is suspected to be another Control Station. Occupied by … invisible lizard men? Who attacked Sooty for some reason? This tale gets wilder every sentence… but I’m inclined to believe it. Too much lines up. We’re bringing Sooty and Crate under our wing for protection, and perhaps some asset we might be able to use elsewhere. And letting the ravens know immediately.
Discussion is brief. We’re vacating the area. This is beyond us. We’ll head to the Haunted Tower, and check if anything disturbed our traps. I maintain this is a poor idea….
